In the mid-nineties, Mitte, Germany was a "ghost town" by day, but would come to life at night at clubs like "Delicious Doughnuts." This is where the DJ's that would make up Jazzanova would meet. They discovered each other's musical styles and refined it into a new sound incorporating dance-oriented music with hip-hop, chillout/lounge music and nujazz. They got their first exposure on BBC Radio in 1997 with their song "Fedtime's Flight." To much critical acclaim including a 4.5/5 star rating from AllMusic, they would release their debut full length album "In Between" in 2002 (Jazzanova, n.d.).
